Graphically Speaking

My photography teacher liked this picture better. So I created my invitation to my mock gallery show. If you follow the link “Rachel’s Photography” and click on “Concerns” in my photo blog, you can see all the pictures taken throughout Charlotte during  my search  for Jesse.

This invitation was created after going out to Charlotte with my camera looking for a homeless woman named Jesse. She is in her thirties and is pregnant. My daughter Alese saw her on the corner with a sign begging for money last week.  I took pictures through out my search to document my journey. Needless to say I did not find her yet, but I will eventually. In the mean time I will pray for her……

This series of pictures were taken in front of PF Changs.  My friend David was a good sport and a great model, allowing me to take all the pictures with my tripod which made easy work of combining all the poses.

All the books and props were set up by me to give this ad a real manly feel. The zippo lighter was the subject and after many photos were taken, I took them to Photoshop where I applied the background, the ad copy and the Zippo logo. Smoke was inserted with a Photoshop brush at the end of processing.

The back label describes the wonderful flavor and encourages the buyer to share it with their friends and family.

One of our class projects was to design a wine label. I decided to use some of my original graphic art for inspiration and also photographed the bottle when the project was completed.
